Vinny started playing hockey in the Third Grade and has been skating since high school. Jiri Hrdina (17) and Theo Fleury (14), who both played on the Calgary Flames, were Vinny's boyhood idols as is reflected in his hockey number 47, paying homage to them both. Their exhibitions of heart, hustle and determination have served as inspiration and models to his own play.

Vinny is captain of the NY Lions.

Vinny now resides in Bay Shore, Long Island and teaches High School Biology. He hopes that being involved with the NYCGHA will serve as an example to others, especially his students, who may not have had the opportunity to enjoy an environment as enriching and diverse as Vinny's.
